Micro SIM (3FF) Card adapter

microsim 3ff 2g 3g ipad iphone 4 card adapter buyMicro-SIM is also called 3FF or Third Form Factor. It is a ‘younger brother’ of ordinary SIM-card, and due to iPad and iPhone 4 releases these small SIMs are quickly seizing the World.

The exact (or almost exact) size of Micro SIM is 12 x 15 mm (0.47 x 0.59 inch). It’s a almost half less than an ordinary SIM-card. That’s why it’s not appropriate for general mobile phones using 2G SIM standard.

The History:

The SIM-card of a general debt/credit card size was the stage one in SIM-cards production. Then it was followed by the SIM-card (2G), and now the 3rd Generation sim-card – the Third Form Factor (3FF), Micro SIM or Mini-UICC on the go. Micros are 50% smaller than SIMs, taking to the account that the chip-area is not actually reduced. Well, not every third party manufacturer or some services are approaching these standards yet.

The Apple Inc. was the pioneer to begin the new era. A lot of Network Providers like AT&T, TMobile in USA, Orange, Vodafone and O-2 are approaching the standard as well. Simyo Provider from EU is already making some steps offering the users to make pre-payments for the micro sim cards orders. Other Companies like A1 in Austria took them ready for sale online from the middle of April.

But now the big point for discussions is why iPad — a gadget which is much bigger than its younger brother iPhone — works with Micro-SIM standard? It’s difficult to answer.

Anyway, for everyone who needs to use their 3ff in different gadgets with old SIM slots, there is now a smart solution. The Micro SIM adapter was specially designed for these reasons: it will carry the MicroSIM and turn it into the ordinary SIM. You can easily interchange your MicroSIM from iPad to any cell phone and visa versa.

MicroSIM adapter is sold at 4.59€ (approx. 5.7$) per unit or at 9.99€ (approx. 12.48$) per 3 units at BuyMicroSIMadapter.com. There are also nice offers on bulk orders. So, don’t miss a good chance to buy a MUST-HAVE gadget!

Go get it.

Telecom Replies “Yes” on Micro-SIM Plans

It is known that Telecom Inc. techos and twitterati used to insist that the company was in the process of inventing a new a Micro-SIM card. Nevertheless, the spin doctors of the company neither confirmed nor denied this statement.
Nowadays, Chris Quin, the director of the division of telco’s Gen-i Australasia services, confirmed that Micro-SIMs are going to be available in August.
The Micro-SIMs are supposed to be available through Telecom stores and dealers via the  Gen-i services division of the company.
This will secure the ability of Telecom customers to use an XT SIM card with iPhone 4, officially carried by Vodafone and the 1st cellphone to support the new format of Micro-SIM.
Before, Vodafone announced a Micro-SIM push to swap Prepay SIMs to Micro-SIMs, and contract customers able to receive the new card format for free.
At present, there are no cellphones on the local markets that take Micro-SIMs, and only 2 devices on the global stage – a little handset the iPhone 4 and the iPad 3G.
Chris Quin noticed that the company doesn’t have any specific plans for the SIM. The company needs to make sure the network is completely available for Mirco-SIM devices.
It may be concluded that Gen-i Australasia services want to ensure the XT customers can still pop an XT-compatible SIM cards into iPhone4.
The iPhone 4 and the iPad 3G will be able to support the new Micro-SIM format. Excluding them, Micro-SIM is only seen by 3G equipped devices.
Regular SIM cards can be cut down to fill Micro-SIM slots with the scissors.
Luckily, Telecom offers Micro-SIMs that can help keep iPhone 4 network in the mainstream.
In addition, it will be of assistance for Gen-i’s guerrilla iPhone campaign (buying iPhones at retail, tweaking them for running on XT and handing them to Telecom customers).
Another problem for Vodafone is that Parallel Imported is taking an approach to promote the iPhone 4.
Currently, Parallel Imported takes pre-orders online and expects delivery late July.
