Micro SIM (3FF) Card adapter
Micro-SIM is also called 3FF or Third Form Factor. It is a ‘younger brother’ of ordinary SIM-card, and due to iPad and iPhone 4 releases these small SIMs are quickly seizing the World.
The exact (or almost exact) size of Micro SIM is 12 x 15 mm (0.47 x 0.59 inch). It’s a almost half less than an ordinary SIM-card. That’s why it’s not appropriate for general mobile phones using 2G SIM standard.
The History:
The SIM-card of a general debt/credit card size was the stage one in SIM-cards production. Then it was followed by the SIM-card (2G), and now the 3rd Generation sim-card – the Third Form Factor (3FF), Micro SIM or Mini-UICC on the go. Micros are 50% smaller than SIMs, taking to the account that the chip-area is not actually reduced. Well, not every third party manufacturer or some services are approaching these standards yet.
The Apple Inc. was the pioneer to begin the new era. A lot of Network Providers like AT&T, TMobile in USA, Orange, Vodafone and O-2 are approaching the standard as well. Simyo Provider from EU is already making some steps offering the users to make pre-payments for the micro sim cards orders. Other Companies like A1 in Austria took them ready for sale online from the middle of April.
But now the big point for discussions is why iPad — a gadget which is much bigger than its younger brother iPhone — works with Micro-SIM standard? It’s difficult to answer.
Anyway, for everyone who needs to use their 3ff in different gadgets with old SIM slots, there is now a smart solution. The Micro SIM adapter was specially designed for these reasons: it will carry the MicroSIM and turn it into the ordinary SIM. You can easily interchange your MicroSIM from iPad to any cell phone and visa versa.
MicroSIM adapter is sold at 4.59€ (approx. 5.7$) per unit or at 9.99€ (approx. 12.48$) per 3 units at BuyMicroSIMadapter.com. There are also nice offers on bulk orders. So, don’t miss a good chance to buy a MUST-HAVE gadget!
Go get it.

iPhone executive leaves Apple
Mark Papermaster, an executive overseeing the iPhone hardware engineering, is leaving Apple Inc.
The company did not explain the reason why the executive decided to leave the company. It is known that he was a senior vice president of iPhone and iPod hardware engineering. Papermaster provided no comments.
In accordance with news reports, the executive was unable to make serious decisions and had lost the confidence in the company. This quit does either not rise Apple’s PR which has been recently bad due its new iPhone 4 and antenna issues since iPhone 4’s launch in June.
An Apple spokesman noticed that Papermaster’s position will be transfered to a senior vice president of Macintosh hardware engineering Bob Mansfield.
Before Apple, Papermaster had worked for IBM for quite a long time. When he was quitting for Apple, IBM even filed a lawsuit against him and accused Papermaster of violating the agreement.
IBM let Papermaster join Apple last year. Under Papermaster Apple launched its extremely successful iPhone 4 (1.7 mln units were sold in the first 3 days!).
Back in time:
Despite the iPhone 4’s unexpected success, users noticed a significant signal loss provided the device was held in a certain way. It was believed that the reason of the unpleasant issue was defective antenna. At first users were instructed on how to hold the phone in a proper way or suggested to get a rubber “bumper”. Subsequently, an update to the iOS 4.0.1 was issued.
Apple informed it would offer owners a free rubber bumpers for resolving the topical problem.

Most Users of iPhone 4 Are Very Satisfied With It
A new survey (ChangeWave Research) revealed that almost all users of iPhone 4 are satisfied with the new unit despite numerous difficulties and antenna issues.
214 independent users took part in the survey, and 73 % of them informed that they are “very satisfied” with the device. What concerns the rest of interviewers, 22 % were “somewhat satisfied.” It is obviously that these satisfaction scores are considered to be very high. One more reason to this fact is the controversy that concerned iPhone 4 since its launch.
Nevertheless, these scores are lower than the iPhone 3GS ones which were received in the months after its release. Last year ChangeWave Research reported that 83 % of iPhone 3GS users were “very satisfied” with it and 18% told they were “somewhat satisfied.”
Consequently, customer satisfaction ratings of the iPhone are somewhat worse than those of the iPhone 3GS’s.
When it goes to the reaction of the iPhone 4 users’ to antenna issues with their device, most of them told they were rather tied, while 25% of the owners reported this issue as a problem. The #1 dislike of the iPhone 4’s users is the “Requirement to Use AT&T’s Network” (27%).
Despite well-known antenna issues with the iPhone 4, its users reported a lower dropped call rating when compared to iPhone 3GS (5.2% in July 2010 and 6.3% in June 2010 respectively).
Additionally, 74% of iPhone 4 users are “very satisfied”/”somewhat satisfied” with a free case solution to antenna problems.
In accordance with ChangeWave, the iPhone 4 is the best smartphone in terms of satisfaction ratings of its users.
Android vs iOS

Google Android OS is expected to have become extremely popular on the mobile market by 2012.
It was announced that by 2012 75 million handsets will have used Android while only 62 mln of Appls iOS will have been in use. Android is going to experience the biggest gain in its users. When comparing to 2009, Android was used in 5 mln handsets against 25 mln in iOS.
75 mln of Android handsets will have added up to 19.4 % of the mobile market in 2012. What concerns Apple, it will have had 15.9 %. This is even more considerable when compared to shares of the current market. In 2009 Android featured a 2.7 % share and Apple had 13.8 % of the market.
Isuppli analyst informed that Android had graduated from the handsets of entry level to more progressive devices. A large scope of manufacturers supports them.
In 2008, the OS started with the models of simple level. Nevertheless, the flexibility that is offered for hardware designs, have attracted active support. Holding Apple back will put off other companies using Android and influence Apple’s number of users in a negative way.
Wireless services and apps could be the battlegrounds for the both OS. At the same time, each one will be trying to diverse themselves and become the winner.
Vancouver, Canada: iPhone 4 lines
Friday morning. Numerous residents of Canadian Vancouver lined up near Apple store in order to purchase the new iPhone 4 among the first in Canada and become the happy owners of this unbeaten device. Some people state they have been waiting several years for iPhone 4 to come out.
The price for 32-GB iPhone 4 (contracted one) is approximately CAD 2,000. Nevertheless, virtually all customers are sure iPhone is worth this money. Since iPhones feature HD video, they can be used instead of video camera.
Most customers tend to opt for paying for unlocked versions of the iPhone 4 rather than purchasing discounted phones which are locked just to one carrier.
Even the occurance with Apple’s antenna problem could not stop buyers. Moreover, many people join the line for iPhone paying no attention to the controversy that has been blown unreasonably.
It has been recently announced that Apple would provide the customers with free cases or bumpers for iPhone 4s in order to alleviate reception troubles with the new device.
At present, the free cases are offered with all purchases. What concerns the buyers who have already purchased an iPhone 4, they can have a case shipped to them absolutely free. Provided they bought a case before, they will be able to get a refund. The reception troubles, which can result in dropping the calls, are alleviated with this bumper for antenna.
In Canada, the iPhone can be purchased at prices between CAD 159 (16-GB iPhone 4 with a 3-year contract). The unlocked versions cost around CAD 650 (16-GB) and CAD 770 (32 GB).
It is known that iPhone 4s were first released in the USA. More than 1.7 mln phones bought in the first 3 days after launch there. On Friday, iPhone 4s were released in 17 other countries, including Canada.
iPads’ Overheating Issue
Northern Californians are suing the Apple corporation. The reason is that Apple iPads overheat under the sun very rapidly.
The complaints were directed to Oakland federal court last Friday. In accordance with their complaints, the iPads do not meet consumers’ expectations and overheat very quickly even under usual weather conditions. The devices can not function well provided they are used outdoors for a prolonged time.
During staying under the sun, the 9.7-inch touchscreen iPads shut down and require immediate cooling down. The complainers state that this happens even after a few minutes outside.
On April, a round-up of some accounts overheating iPads was done. It was announced that iPads can operate at 32 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The same month iPhone developer informed that iPad overheated after 10 min under the sun. Later, it was reported that the iPad shut down after only 10 min under the sun, though came back around in a few minutes after being placed into the fridge.
This occurrence can result in a serious problem for Apple, especially by reason of the iPad design for occasional computing and e-book reading. Besides, this concerns not only iPads but iPhones as well. However, since iPads have a larger surface area, they can be overheated quicker than iPhones.

Free Cases for iPhone 4 Customers
Apple announced about its plans to provide iPhone4 users with a free case at the Conference on 16th of July. The purchase price to those customers who already bought one supposed to be refunded.
However, it was difficult for consumers to guess how Apple was planning to handle the situation. The rumors talked about online registration forms provided or direct visits to Apple stores.
But the truth is that iPhone 4 Case Program allows you to select and order your case directly on your iPhone 4. All you have to do is to download an application from App store, run it, sign in, select from the list of available cases, and provide your shipping address. After 3-5 weeks your free case will be delivered.
One should keep in mind that provided the iPhone 4 is bought prior to July 23, you can claim the case till August 22. In case you purchase it from July 23 onward, you have 30 days since the program will end on September 30.
LG is stunned with Huge Number of iPad Display Orders
Apple is not the only company who is struggling with a huge demand on iPad these days. LG, the company that produces displays for iPad, is also overwhelmed with orders.
July 22, CEO of LG, Kwon Young-Soo announced about the troubles with filling orders for iPad displays that the company is currently experiencing . Kwon added that though factories are currently producing as many displays as they are able to, the demand is still growing and for LG it is impossible to meet it.
In 2009, LG signed a $500 million contract to deliver LCD displays for Apple.
Since April 2010 Apple has managed to sell approximately 3.3 million iPads. It is known that devices had been pre-ordered for a good deal of customers at the beginning of sales. Apple didn’t expect such an interest in the iPad, especially from the consumers who are not early technology adopters.
LG CEO mentioned that even provided production of iPad displays is increased, LG will not manage to make enough of them till early 2011.
What concerns Apple, it is worth to mention that a few days ago Apple COO Tim Cook informed that the company was selling iPads and iPhone 4s as quickly as they were produced. Still, everyone is surprised by the volume of iPad sales. After announcing of the numbers, many analyst firms had to radically adjust their forecasts for iPad sales for the year.

Talks: This Weekend Apple is Going to Clear Out Waiting Lists for iPad and iPhone 4
These days some of Apple stores are still experiencing troubles with shortage of iPads and iPhone 4s. However, it is now possible to place an order within the local stores provided they don’t have the device you are in need of. The name of the customer and the product wanted will be put on a priority list.
Fortunaterly, Apple seems to be eager to clear out all the waiting lists by this weekend. It is known that some stores have reservations of approximately 250-750 iPads and 500-1000 iPhone 4s.
To achieve this goal, Apple is planning to use “all hands on deck” approach, similar to when major products are presented. In addition, some stores will be opened early on Sunday to assist with moving iPhone 4s and iPads. According to BGR, after waiting lists have been cleared out, sales can be total approximately between 500,000 and 1,000,000 over the weekend only.
In such a way, Apple can sell a great number of iOS devices and clear out the iPhone 4 waiting list before launching the white model.
Still, there are rumors that some stores are still keeping the iPad in stock almost 4months after launching, but Apple reports that the iPad has been selling not worse than all of its Mac computers. According to the common iPad sales rates these reports are worth believing.
